Demonstrations on November 24-25 on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Social society groups across the region have called for demonstrations on November 24-25 to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. While precedent suggests demonstrations will take place in important urban areas and capitals, at the time of writing we have been able to confirm the following events. All times are expressed in local time. In Santiago, demonstrators will gather on November 25 at 20:30 in Plaza Italia (Square). In Lima, a protest will take place on November 24 at Campo Marte (Park) at 15:00. In Mexico City on November 25 demonstrators will march from the Angel de la Independencia to the Zócalo starting at 17:00. In Quito, Ecuador, demonstrators will gather on November 24 at the Ejido Park and march to Plaza 24 de Mayo (Square) in the city center. In Sao Paulo, demonstrators will gather on November 25 from 9:00 at Unibes Center, Oscar Freire street, subsequently heading toward Paulista Avenue. In San José (Costa Rica) a protest will take place at Parque Central (square) at 15:00.

Those operating throughout Latin America on November 24-25 are advised to anticipate potential disruptions in urban areas due to demonstrations denouncing violence against women.
