Canadian Min. of Foreign Affairs publishes statement on Nov 29 advising to limit travel in Panama

On November 29 the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement advising citizens to avoid all travel to the Darién Province near the Colombian border, citing extremely high levels of violent crime and the presence of organized guerrilla groups and drug traffickers. Travelers are advised not to travel beyond the town of Yaviza. The advisory also warns Canadian citizens to exercise vigilance in Panama city. Those traveling or operating in Panama are advised to exercise heightened vigilance in areas outside Panama City and to avoid all travel to areas near the Colombian border.
